OPG – Dental Imaging
An X-Ray which displays the teeth, jaws and temperomandibular.
What is an OPG?
An OPG is an X-ray which displays all the teeth, jaws and temperomandibular joints in a single image.
It is often used in the planning of orthodontic work, a review of wisdom teeth or a general overview of the teeth and bone in that area.
No appointment is necessary for an OPG at Altus Medical Imaging. Simply walk-in with your referral.
Please advise us if you are, or think you may be, pregnant.
Do I need to prepare for my OPG?
No preparation is necessary.
Most OPGs are performed standing with your chin resting on a small shelf, biting gently on a sterile mouth piece to steady your head.
There are handles either side for you to hold, ensuring you remain very still while your X-ray is taken.
Approx. 15 minutes
There are no restrictions after having an OPG.
After your examination, the most pertinent images from your study will be available on the myAMI patient portal. A report, along with the images will be sent directly to your referring doctor. AMI will store digital copies of all studies on our secure database for comparison with any future examinations.
**Please bring any previous X-rays with you.
